Bending Spoons Design Competition 2025

Bending Spoons Design Competition 2025

In Feb 2025, I participated in the Design competition by Bending spoons.

The challenge was to design an app for managing Hexabots, multi-purpose robots used in lunar colonies. In this project, set in a parallel universe in 2025, humans rely on Hexabots to perform essential tasks in a challenging lunar environment.

User Scenario

User Scenario

On the Moon, advanced technology is essential. A research team in one of the lunar colony’s science domes is working on a prototype turbine using a silicon 3D printer. However, they lack the specific materials needed to complete the project.

The user opens the app to manage the Hexabots and starts on the homepage, where they check the status of each Hexabot with all related info. Their goal is to quickly ensure that a Hexabot is tasked with gathering the necessary resources.

For the next step, I created a quick sketch of the app's information architecture. This helped me visualise and plan how I want the final wireframes to take shape.

The Colours and Characters

The Colours and Characters

To align with the imaginative setting of a lunar colony while supporting usability in a high-stakes environment, I chose a vibrant, character-based color palette that balances clarity, engagement, and accessibility.

Each of the four main colors—lime green, mint green, coral red, and cyan blue—is paired with a unique character (Leo, Meoaw, Vilo, Buzzy), which aids in task personalization and recognition.

The use of bold, saturated hues against a dark UI background ensures excellent legibility and reduces eye strain, which is especially important for users in low-light or high-contrast lunar environments.

Competition Requirements and

my submission

High-fidelity screens. Select three key screens from your wireflow and bring them to life in high fidelity. These should showcase pixel-perfect UI, including appropriate colors, images, and media to communicate the design clearly and effectively. All three screens should be placed in a frame/section of 2000 x 1440 pixels.
